Default A Nightmare On Elm Street

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010

"You'll never sleep again"

Right people. Lets gets this out the way. I loved the original nightmare on elm street and I groaned and moaned when i heard they were remaking it. I'm happy to be proven wrong. I enjoyed it. Not the greatest remake of all time but a pretty decent effort. The best part is Jackie Earle Haley who stole the show in watchmen and steals the show again in here. He is one evil bastard in this. Don't get me wrong Robert Englund will always be Freddy Kruger but Jackie looks like he is having a great time playing one of the most evil characters to grace the silver screen.
Its just a shame they could have done anything with Freddy and the dreams. But they lifted most of them from the original. Still I enjoyed it. Even ask staff members to leave as they wouldn't turn their phone off. Cocks.

Hmm.. not that I don't trust you Guyver, but I'm still feeling sceptical after those bad teaser clips. Does it bring anything new or is it just a passable rehash of what went before?

Pretty naff really. Still not as bad as the original. OH YEAH I WENT THERE.

Honestly, the original is terrible, an absolute barrel of laughs (not a good thing).

Truly dreadful. The original is a genre classic - end of.

The acting between Kellan Lutz & Katie Cassidy in the Diner scene at the beginning is some of the worst ever comitted to celluloid.

The second death scene is unintentionally hilarious, and is outshone by the equivalent in the 20+ year old original.

Jackie Earl Haley fails as Freddy Kruger - growling a bit does not a good bad guy make. It could have been anyone playing him in this film, so low key is his influence.

1/5 and only slightly better than Legion.

The original was okay, at the time, because it was something different. But I bet it's dated badly, although I have no real desire to confirm that. It may have launched a genre or whatever but it's no classic.

I find the complaints of the acting in this film to be pretty bizarre, as the acting in the original is routinely dreadful. One moment that has lived on in my memory is near the end, where the main female character is hilariously trying to sound horrified shouting "Oh no! My Boyfriend!".

It's a terrible film from a novel premise.

The remake is dire. Don't get me wrong, the original is no masterpiece but among the bad acting, 80s haircuts and denim are a couple of genuine scares and Robert Englund's Freddy is a repulsive, relentless embodiment of things that children fear (sadly the sequels turned Freddy into something else). When I heard that Jackie Earl Haley was to play Krueger in the remake I was genuinely excited but he could not save this film. His burn makeup is good but in no way does he capture the spirit of the character in the way Englund did in the original.
