Default Questions about buying World Cinema on DVD

Hello all

I am looking for any sources to buy World Cinema. I use places like Amazon, Ebay and Play but many of the titles I want don't always make it to these sites.

Does anyone else have any other sites they use?

Where do you buy your World Cinema from?

How annoyed are you that some film festival films never make it to DVD?

Is anyone else finding it harder and harder to locate non english language films?

I love South American cinema. Does anyone have any news sources?

I want to run muy own Film Festival, Anyone want to guide me through the process?

So many questions but I would be grateful if anyone could answer any of the questions from a frustrated World Cinema fan.

I'm ashamed to say this but you should try HMV. A lot of their shops still have a very substantial world cinema selection. You'll probably pay a bit (a lot) over the odds though. Haven't done much buying online recently though.

Just saw news about HMVs troubles. If you want to buy anything there make it quick.

Many thanks. I do go through HMV online and in various HMV branches but I find contents vary from store to store and have had minimal success.

I mostly use ebay, but if I can't find something I usually have to resort to YesAsia - however, Japanese priced blu-ray's & DVD's are awfully expensive, so it can be quite costly ordering direct from Japan.

It can be frustrating, for sure - every year there's at least one film I'd like to see that makes the festival rounds, but never sees a commercial release. I can only hope that digital distribution services that specialise in art-house and independent cinema, such as Mubi.com, continue to make waves so directors and producers have more outlets for their films to be seen on an international stage.

It depends on the country of origin - for instance, Korean cinema is in the middle of a huge surge in popularity, as such there are more Korean films available to foreigners than ever before, and more and more asian DVD & blu-ray releases are region-free so as to capitalise on heightened interest from Western audiences.
