Delicatessen was excellent! Brilliant! Another brilliant movie that is half French, half British is "The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover" or "Le cuisinier, le voleur, sa femme et son amant". Really good... And "Amelie"? Well, i thought it was ok. The music was great but the movie a little bit boring...

I'm not a big fan of Amelie either. It's far too cutesy and the whimsy it aims for is just irritating. Audrey Tautou is pretty tasty though.

i wasnt overly impressed with Delicatessen at all, it just freaked me out a little bit. for me it was like half the cast of Amelie without the developed characters, or the highs and lows. also i didnt think the whole jeunet über colouring thing worked at all.
i do really like La Haine though, Vincent Cassell i think is incredible in it, and i think it just gives such a good idea of a real france, not the fairy tale Amelie picture where Paris is full of white people! |
