I think you're right, about Taylor Kitsch, I can see him in the part. Not so much Gyllenhaal.
He did. |

How do you guys feel about Ethan Peck becasue that's the new rumor. The last thing I saw him in was the tv adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You. Not good...and now emphasized by the fact that it was cancelled after one season. He gave a few smouldering looks every now and again, but didn't manage to speak very often, so I'm not sure how I feel about this decision.

Yeah, IMDb has him rumoured for the role. I've never seen him in anything I remember. Based on looks, I think he looks a bit too much like Ashton Cutcher to fit the rock star look of Eric Draven. I imagined someone slightly older in the role too. I never read the comic so I don't know what age he's supposed to be in that.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo of 28 Weeks Later fame(?) is now in preliminary talks to possibly direct. This film looks a long way off and I'm in two minds whether Fresnadillo is a lesser evil than Stephen Norrington.

But you can forgive the silly second half of the film for the awe inspiring sight of Michael from 'Lost' attacking an army of infected using only the rotor blades of his helicopter. Pure, class! ![]()

I actually don't mind 28 Weeks Later. The opening scene is perfectly tense and despite a total stinker of a plot it still manages to entertain at times. Think my question Mark over Fresnadillo direction was a bit rash.

Fresnadillo's out of the running now apparently.

Bradley Cooper as Eric Draven in Fresnadillo's remake? Does anyone think Cooper could play the lead in The Crow? I know he's known for playing shiny, cocky ladies' men in the likes of A Team and The Hangover but Midnight Meat Train proved he's equally at home with much darker material. Could he pull it off?

I understand why studios are going with Cooper--he's got a following and the beef-cake factor--but will he be a proper Eric Draven? No. This is going too mainstream. Cooper has capability, but giving him creepy face paint and leather isn't going to change the idea that the actor pool their choosing from is going to turn this film into another Punisher. I can see Cooper pulling off intimidating bad guys and throwing in a good sob, but there's something very artificial-feeling about it all. I think in Midnight Meat Train he was forcing the crazy waaaay to hard.

Its an AWFUL choice. Almost as bad as Mark Walberg. You need someone with a bit of mystery to them not the hunk d'jour of Hollywood. The man may be good but he can in no way pull this off.
