Yep - Beverly Hills Cop 3 is a bit poop.

It might actually be ok, but the first x2 films evoke too many happy memories for me. They should have stopped at 2 (as with many other films + remakes etc.)

:]

Default Motherless Brooklyn (2013)

Does anyone know what is happening with this Edward Norton project?

I remember like 3 years ago it was billed as being released in 2010!

Have they even started filming it yet?

Inner Space and Night at the Museum. Two classic slapping scenes in those films. I never laughed so much at Ben Stiller till I saw him being slapped by a monkey

Default Studio/Marketing speak: Is...

..."we have already commissioned the script for the sequel" the new "we are spending millions in marketing as we have faith in this film"?

I am hearing the former statement more-and-more nowadays and can't help but smile.

Reason being, both statements are full of crap. Studios, especially in the past ten years, have been telling the public they have spent millions on marketing but that is sh*t. It is basically a write-off for some studio big-wig to pay for his island somewhere. Since the internet through word-of-mouth are now doing most of the marketing work for them - the studios are saving a fortune so now they have come up with the new marketing slogan.

These statements are just smoke and mirrors to make the geeky film public out there they are putting out a superior product.

Your thoughts?

Word of mouth will make or break a film, but it works both ways. It can give positive feedback to a small film that really deserves it or it can crush an over inflated piece of crap that really doesn't warrant it. Films cost an absolute fortune to make, these days, it 's the advertising $£'s that will make that money back for them.

Of course a stupid amount of money is spent on advertising these days, for anything. A lot of entertainment is competing with a lot of entertainment. Film doesn't have to worry about TV any more it has to compete with gaming. Call of Duty (very heavily advertised) is the biggest entertainment IP in the world right now. Sure, games cost more, but films come and go in a matter of weeks and are replaced with the next money spinner. People don't go nuts for films like they used to, after Harry Potters last movie, will anything really get people that excited again?
There's a fu'ck tonne spent on advertising these days, out of pure necessity.
