Looks like a JJ Abrams movie the same way Poltergeist looked like a Tobe Hooper film.

What with the official trailer and the new TV spot, this is shaping up to become THE film of the summer. Spielberg magic filtered through the lens of JJ Abrams has to be the perfect melding of influence and talent.

The jingly (is that even a word?) music and certain phone bothering alien vibe give me bumping geese everytime I watch the trailer!!

I think you meant a TV Hack trying his best to copy Spielberg without any grasp of the basic film-making skills which makes Spielberg so good at what he does.

Still, at least Abrams seems to have been introduced to a tripod.

Default Ouch!

Didnt like Star Trek eh or MI:3 eh?

"Hack" is a bit harsh for someone who created LOST, Alias and the perenially ********** Fringe.

They all have to start somewhere. Even Spielbergs debut movie, DUEL was a TV film.

But Duel was so cinematic, it eventually got a cinema release. Abrams stuff just looks like expensive TV; all handheld close-ups and bad editing.

He only got a movie gig because Hollywood mistakes success on TV (producing!!! for the most part) as some kind of talent. Since his two (based on a TV show) movies made money, and because he's a 'self claimed' geek, everyone seems to give him a free pass.

WHY?

Mi3 and Star Trek were both vapid, glossy affairs, which looked bright and shiny to distract the audience from the fact that they were crap. I challenge anyone to take those movies into a film class and find anything of cinematic interest in them.

I just don't get it.

One Day trailer. I want this to be good because I loved the book, but unsure about Anne Hathaway.

I have a feeling La Hathaway can pull it off... I'm more bothered about Jim Sturgess. He's just so bland. Definitely not totty enough to play Dex.
