Disneys Beauty and the Beast looks stunning on BD, but some of the drawings looks a bit 'pound shop' ropey with the clean up.

I don't know if it was our bluray player, but several disks I got from Lovefilm on bluray have been non-playable or just bad.
Daybreakers was one. There was something else we got that was equally crap on bluray, we may as well have got it on dvd for the difference.
Rocky is not very good but there are some great old film on blu, Zulu is fantastic, so is Dirty Harry & Planet of the apes, you cant go wrong with those three

I am often disheartened when Blu-ray releases are worse than the original DVDs, perhaps due to lacking Special Features like documentaries (A FEW GOOD MEN) or being standard editions (HELLBOY).

When the DVD version has been around for a while, I would at least expect a new Blu-ray release to raise the standard somewhat in all areas.

I've watched the first 4 Rocky films in my blu-ray boxset and I am very disappointed with the picture quality, somtimes its worse than the dvd. Sound isn't too great so far either but it was nice to watch them all again on after the other. To think the HMV were once selling this boxset for £80, daylight robbery.

One film I was particularly disappointed with the Blu-ray release was CASABLANCA.

Okay, so I know it was made in 1942 and therefore the picture quality will be nowhere near as good as modern films on this format, but the main problem is with the sound.

In fact, it is so bad that on certain scenes I have to turn up the volume on my television extemely high just to hear the dialogue, which tends to spoil the enjoyment of the film!
