I'm a college freshman, currently majoring in Magazine Journalism. I'm interested in writing for a film or entertainment magazine eventually, but there is no such specialization at my university. I'm curious if the Total Film staff (writers, editors, etc.) have degrees in film and/or journalism, or neither at all?
Would it be beneficial to have some sort of film education in this field, or just experience? Any advice? |

Hi Ellie,
I'll contact a few of the team and find out whether or not they have journalism qualifications and if it has helped in their careers either way... |

I'm a fairly new subscriber but extremely frustrated. I live in Sweden so I expect the magazine to come slightly after its release date but I always get it more than 2 weeks afterwards.
Which pretty much decrease the value of the magazine. What use do I have of such old reviews and news? But, what really makes me curious is why the news shops here in Stockholm actually get the magazine on the release date but I get it two weeks later? I live in the same city. I would imagine Total Film would value their subscribers a bit more and at least treat them with the same respect as the big news shops. |

Here's the reply I had back from Subscriptions Customer Services: =============================================== Dear Liz, Magazines are despatched in time for our oversea's subscribers (Europe) to receive the magazines within 7 to 14 days of the UK on sale date. If a subscriber is experiencing delivery problems then we are able to pass the details over to DHL and get the account placed on subs monitoring which is thought to speed up the delivery.Once their account is placed on subs monitoring and there are no improvements then we would advise a subscriber to raise a complaint directly with their local postal operator. The Subscriptions Manager has been contacted in regards to delivery problems in the Scandanavia area. ============================================ So it looks like 7-14 days after the on-sale date is the norm for European subscribers... If you are regularly receiving yours 14+ days after the on-sale date, you should probably consider the subs monitoring mentioned above. If you would like me to forward you the email, please let me know. Then you can contact them directly with your account details and ask them to investigate. I hope this helps. Liz |

It's now 10th of May and I still haven't gotten the latest issue that was supposed to be released on the 14th of April. (#180) I have so far gotten two magazines. The first one took one month as well, and now it seems the third one is extremely delayed as well. It's more and more becoming a joke. |

Just as an update, I still haven't gotten issue 180 and now I see that issue 181 is released. I love Total Film but I am technically paying for old magazines now. It's ridicilous. I've asked them for a free issue when my subscription will end next year but I'm seriously starting to think about a refund now. Two times out of three (!!) I have gotten the magazine when a new issue has already been released. If I'm paying for old magazines I can get them for a cheaper price on Ebay. |
