Excellent review Luke - welcome to the forum.

This was even better second time around. Film of the year by a mile... I can't see anything topping it. Portman has to win best actress for her career defining performance. She is indeed perfect, as are the rest of the cast. Cassel is outstanding, the second viewing revealing extra nuances and detail in his portrayal of the confident, brash ballet director. Hershey is unsettling in both appearance and manner as Portmans' domineering mother. And Kunis is sultry and seductive, unhinging Portman and awakening her inner beast. The body horror and shocks are genuinely disturbing, creating a foreboding atmosphere that builds to an exquisite crescendo. Once again the Black Swan dance sent tingles down my spine.
I could easily see this again... oh the joys of Unlimited!

It's boring. Why it's getting high praise apart from portman I've no idea. I'd die a happy man if I never have to see it again

I've got to agree with fortunes on this one. There's no denying it's a decent film. Capably directed and Portman is good but that's all. I doubt I'll watch it again.

I agree and I'm so glad I didn't blind buy it on Blu-ray and payed to watch it on Sky instead. I made that mistake with Aronofsky's The Wrestler.

I did enjoy the girl on girl action between Portman & Kunis but thats about it.

This film
Everything that is wrong with modern film.Hype over substance.
This seems to consist of random scenes of pointlessness and a bit of girl on girl to appease the really arty boffs out there.
Very boring and ultimately pointless fare. And it appears Portman did little dancing in reality.
