David O' Hara. Not very often seen, but scene-stealing in everything he's in. Just a suggestion from a non-UK citizen (cittizin, in this case). Be proud, Brits!

Colin firth is decent, but plays the same character in every film.
British/Irish cinema is doing well at the moment, with some decent small films being produced.
The problem is that while decent actors/actresses abound, and some decent directors too,the Irish Film Industry is dead, and, the British Film Industry underfunded.
What good does it really do film here when Firth wins an Oscar?

Carlyle was an accident brought about by my inadequate quoting skills.

But Sutherland is a total reach, officially born in the UK granted , but lived here for what? About six years? I'm sure during that time he absorbed all thinks British and this experience no doubt influenced all of his latter day choices and artistic aspirations!

Although he probably holds dual nationality, I think it's a safe bet to say he's Canadian, like Donald and raised as such in a mixed bag of US/Canadian culture.

Sorry Sutherland is disqualified! If he was Greg Rusedski however, he'd definitely be British and NOT Canadian.

*Cough*

What?

A few years ago I would have included Ray Winstone but he gets on my nerves a bit now.

Actresses - Emily Blunt, Helen Mirren, Dame Judy.

As for directors, Ridley & Tony Scott, Chris Nolan, Neil Marshall.
Add Alan Rickman to my actors.

If you define it as where someone is born i.e Sutherland, then Hepburn doesn't count, but Guy Pearce does.
