'Northern Lights' I read a few years back and also read it pretty much in one sitting, what a fantastic book! A beautifully skewed universe full of peril, adventure and subtle themes for adults. But then Pullman completely shifted focus for 'The Subtle Knife', depriving me of the world I fell in love with in book one.

It works for some people, but having fell in love with the alternate version of Britain and all the magical features in Lyra's world, to be confronted with a surly teenage boy frightened of pushing someone down the stairs irritated me no end.

Couldn't bring myself to read 'The Amber Spyglass', although I do own it, tempted by Pullman's new Jesus flavoured book though.

By far the most exciting book I've read in ages is The Hunger Games. Read it in less than a day - pulled an all-nighter reading it on holiday. Last time I did that was when I read Northern Lights... (Bit weird considering they're both essentially kids' books!)

Haha, I just finished reading the Hunger Games Trilogy too! The first two in particular, felt the 3rd wasn't as great. Getting slightly addicted to looking at pics they are releasing of the film though, Jennifer Lawrence will make a fab Katniss I think!

I read Sister and loved it! Devoured it, in fact.

Can't wait to get cracking on second book in Hunger Games trilogy... I wasn't sure about Jennifer Lawrence at first, having only seen her in X-Men: First Class (and on the Oscars red carpet) - I thought she looked a bit too voluptuous and sex kitteny. But I recently watched Winter's Bone and based on that, I think she could be pretty darn perfect as Katniss...

I'm on book three (part 2) of George RR Martins 'Song of Ice and Fire" (aka Game of Thrones) and I cant remember the last time I was so engrossed in a story and its characters.

I had to stop reading last night after the death of some major characters as I was so floored.

Leland Gaunt is one of the best King villains ever.

I know, Fortunes. It's the endings King always has trouble with. Right now I'm enjoying the way all the mischief which has been so artfully set up is starting to descend into anarchic chaos.

I'm trying not to think about the ending.

Ach, really? I've just finished the first one (or Season 1 of "Game of Thrones" ) and am burning to continue. Unfortunately my man is currently being slow with the second...which is admittedly his anyway.
