Rebooting Batman

I wouldn't mind seeing Jon Hamm as Bruce/Bats.

Obviously he has the right look for a Batman set in the forties or fifties, but I'm sure he'd be pretty keen to start working in the present decade for a change. He can actually time travel you know, it's the method Christian Bale used for the last Terminator abortion. Anyway I digress.

I for one hope that they wait a while before ANY rebooting of Batman -- Nolan (IMO) did such a stellar job w/his films that I think it'll be tough if they do one in the next year or two. Wait, wait, wait.

So now that the Nolan trilogy has come and gone who do you think should next don the bat-cape?

I have long held a bit of a torch for this actor and although he is having more success as a writer (upcoming Stoker for Chan-wook Park), I hoped he would move on to better acting gigs.

The guy is Wentworth Miller or the "cool" brother from Prison Break. Wentworth has an air of menace and mystery which I think will suit the Bat.

If that fails there is always Channing Tatum.

EDIT: And please for the love of Cronenberg not Arnie Hammer!

why reboot it..?? well, cuz, Nolan 'KILLED' him at the end of tdkR. it wouldn't've been a problem, IF he didn't make the Bats NOT doing anything in that 8-year gap (which is really very UN-characteristic for Wayne/Batman) in the first place. i dunno...maybe Ledger's death had a much bigger effect on Nolan (Chris) than he'd care to acknowledge. maybe it just made him lost his way and sloppy in doing this third bat movie of his. and that's a big shame.

i'd say...just CONTINUE the character (nolan's version) AS IF TDKR hasn't happened or won't happen...meaning keep Gary Oldman as Gordon, Freeman as Fox and Caine as Alfr- well...i can see Alfred being recast, if Caine's feeling too old to act already. but, it's really unnecessary to REBOOT the batman, at least for now and the next cupla years.

I would love that to be true in having a universe where Batman can just continue ad infinitum like James Bond.

However, even with all the love I have for Nolan’s Batman, I don’t think it will fit into Warner’s new plans for Justice League and Superman.

His Batman just does not operate in the same universe as a super-powered alien and a guy with a Looney Tunes ring. The same can also be said for the Batman comics. Every new creative team working on the Batman books gifts the mythology with an almost mini-reboot. So I’m not too fussed as long as the interpretation is good and solid.

As much as I have enjoyed the Nolanverse version of Batman, I would like to see a reboot that moves away from being an action orientated film and focus more on Batman actually showing his detecting skills. I think a slow burn suspense story showing him actually investigating, collecting clues would go open up some character moments which haven't really been touched upon in the movies so far.

But part of me also would like to see one of the classic titles, like The Dark Knight Returns or The Killing Joke or maybe even Long Halloween or Hush being adapted for the big screen. Batman Begins did a great job at using material from Year One, and I think that with the setup Nolan provided in his Dark Knight trilogy, only slight alterations would need to be made to adapt TDKR to take place in that Gotham.

Jim Caviezel is an obvious choice as well. Personally I've always thought that Clive Owen would make a good Batman/Bruce Wayne.

In all seriousness though it has to be Michael Fassbender, for the internet hype alone.

It's naive to think it wouldn't reboot.

Or to be more precise, it's naive to think that they'd not try and make some more $$$ out of another three films series and even beyond that.
