Here's a link to Total Film's 4 star We Need To Talk About Kevin review. **** (Has anyone seen this yet? I read the book, and although it was very thought-provoking, I can't honestly say I liked it. But then again, I do enjoy watching Tilda Swinton...) |

Loved this film! The non-linear story progression and central performances had me completely engrossed. In particular, knowing Kevin's sister loses an eye before seeing how it happened left every clue and red-herring loaded with menace ("No! Don't give him a bow and arrow, you fools!")
While I was a bit underwhelmed by the eventual reveal of what Kevin did, it didn't really take anything away from my enjoyment of the film. If this film doesn't garner any Oscar nominations it'll truly show how out of touch the Academy is.

I enjoyed We Need To Talk About Kevin. Swinton was great and you can feel her desperation throughout.

**possible spoiler* We Need to Talk About Kevin
The moment when she sees one of the yellow bike locks on the door of the school is priceless. |

Did you like the film overall, Morris? When I started watching I got the feeling it was going to be a bit tedious but it was exactly the opposite. I really felt for Tilda Swinton's character what with her being the only person who could really see the depths of her child's depravity.

I do. I'd heard good things about the performances and adaption from the novel, so I rented it just after it came out. The kid who plays Kevin is creepy. The end scene (when she visits him) gets you, you don't know how to feel..and I like that. I like it when a film leaves space to allow the viewer to decide rather than being emotionally manipulative, like Spielberg sometimes is.

Watched 'The American' too, which was also very good. Beautifully shot and moody. Very old school. |
