Heath Ledger - Joker - Totally unhinged psycho.
Tim Curry - Pennywise - You can see Curry loving every second, doesn't stop him from freaking me out. Javier Bardem - Anton Chigurgh - That bloody haircut Ted Levine - Jame Gumb/Buffalo Bill - His voice, frustration, weird naked lady suit dancing. Micheal Rooker - Henry - See Joker description, takes far too much pleasure in what he does Gunnar Hanson - Leatherface - He says nowt, just noises and a sense of overwhelming power and strength. Joe Pesci - Tommy DeVito - More than anything because the real Henry Hill said thats almost what the real Tommy was like. Armin Shimmerman - Andrew Ryan - Bioshock. Its all in the voice, an ever resounding, unseen prescence, everywhere, so sure of his aims and goals, even his death serves to strengthen what he thinks, he welcomes the golf club to the head taunting you allthe while. Not frightening as such, but a worrying reminder of what people can become with money and a huge ego.

You should have really asked "What actor would be the best at scaring the pants off of you" because certain actors just ooze evil, Jack Nicholson for example is just as scary in The Shining as he is in Batman, and even more sinister in The Departed because he's supposed to be sane.
Can't think of many other actors that have got that "Look at me, I'm cool AND evil and you so want to be me" act down to a T, although Michael Keaton did sort of give me the willies in Pacific Heights because, again, he plays that sort of deranged but perfectly sane character with such ease. |

Bateman was just someone to avoid because he was such an arsehole, you only get to find out he's a nutter when you get back to his place and compare business cards.
Travis is the sort of unhinged ex soldier type where you feel slightly uncomfortable around because you don't know what may set him off, be it driving a Prius or reading the wrong sort of newspaper. Lector though, you KNOW to be scared off because he's such a dangerous person because he thinks that whatever he's done is normal, and if you aren't terrified of that then you are just another potential victim. On the other hand, this subject is asking about the scariest performances so each to their own, so I'm going to vote for Freddy Kruger ![]() |

Don't ever let a child watch Tim Burton's Batman. Jack Nicholson's Joker gave me nightmares for weeks when I was younger. Vigo from Ghostbusters 2 was another one.
