I just joined so that I could comment in this thread. What more do people want from a film? We got a great balance between the action we all expected and the emotional closure (?) of a fine trilogy. I could easily gone another hour (with a toilet break )

Entertaining, if rather dull (again) in places. Bane was a good bad'un, but somehow felt underused in a way, voice started to sound stupid after a while too. Hathaway was also a surprise, which seems to be a feeling amoung many people. Overall its was just good, better than Begins
but lacking the pace (seriously, TDK felt tighter than this) and bad guy of The Dark Knight.

3/5

Its worth mentioning that possibly this film, unlike TDK, may get better with another viewing.

I've just seen this again. I retract my previous statement. A second viewing makes it worse.

2.5/5

Wee spoilers below:

A little disappointed I have to say. But only a little, this was still a good, enjoyable film. Take a little bit from all three films and you'd have something amazing I guess!

Good:

As previous posters have mentioned, Bale gives a great performance, he and Michael Caine really tug at the heart strings and I have to admit to a tear in the eye at one point. Would have liked more of Caine though. JGL great, Bane a great baddy and some of the action stuff just fabulous. I liked the appearance of characters from other films through photos, flashbacks and actual appearances. If only Heath had lived...

Not so good:

The mid-end section(sorta spoiler - Batman in a hole) really really dragged for me. I spent much of it going - "is that Tom Conti?". Thankfully it amps up and becomes thrilling again in the last half hour or so.

Ending wrap ups - some satisfying, some not so much. I only saw it a few hours ago and I can't even remember what happened to Bane??

M'eh. Is this really the benchmark for blockbuster movies?

Another overlong snoozefest. About 20 minutes of great, fun Batman stuff (the Bat was cool) and two hours of turgid dialogue and yawn inducing speeches.

Suffered the same problems, for me, as The Dark Knight did: Seemed like Nolan wasn't interested in making a Batman film, and thought it was sophisticated and intelligent, but was prone to stupidity.

For all the emotional engagement I had with the film, I probably could have stayed home and played the score really loud. It would have had the same effect. It really is one of the loudest, most honking, in your face scores for years. It would be half the film it is without it.

I know a film had failed for me when I walk out and the conversation with my friend is just a list of questions:

How does Bruce Wayne get back into Gotham?
Why do several scenes move from daylight to night-time in the space of a few minutes?
Who left the big rope outside the 'pit' and was that not a bit risky? Come to think of it, how does Bruce Wayne get back from there with no money?
Why does the 'energy bomb' have a HUGE FUCKING DIGITAL COUNTDOWN ON IT?
How can Batman walk on thin ice, and how did he manage to do the big bat logo in petrol without anyone noticing?
So, is Bane dead then?
etc, etc.

Stupid film.
