I bought The Hunger Games this week. I never got a chance to see it during its cinema run as I was reading the book and didn't want to spoil the end by seeing the film first.

I finished the book about 2 days after it came off the cinemas so I have been waiting since then for the film to be released.

Avengers. Only managed to watch the features and bonus disc so far (only 4 min bloopers?!), but I might take revenge on my noisy neighbours for about 2hr 23min by making full use of my home entertainment system for this one

My (pre-ordered a month ago) copy of 'Avengers' finally showed up from Sainsburys on saturday (about a week after release). Not watched the UK exclusive Marvel doc yet, but the film is still a riot.

Just received the 50 Years of Bond
No prizes guessing what I'm doing for the next couple of weeks.

Let us know what the PQ is like. I would love that box set but its a little expensive at the moment.

I'm a bit pissed off with the Avengers blu ray as some of the extras have been left off for the UK version, including the commentary by Joss Whedon. I should have imported the US multi-region version.

Just watched Goldfinger on my PS3. It was the first Ultimate Edition DVD that came to hand for comparison. The picture quality is pretty damn good for a 48-year-old film. It's definitely an improvement on the UE, which itself was a vast improvement over the SE. I think it's taken from the same source as the UE, which was a 4K transfer from the original print, albeit with extensive frame-by-frame clean-up and colour correction. Contrast is better, blacks blacker, edges crisper and generally more detail visible on my screen.

Extras on the Goldfinger disc seem to be the same as on the UE DVD, but there is a new extra disc of special features.

As soon as I get a BluRay drive for my PC, I'll tray and post screenshots. Should be in the next couple of weeks.

This being an early birthday present, I'm well pleased so far.

Prometheus

Yes I know I hated it when I saw it at the cinema but I fancied getting the blu-ray for the extras. Had to pay extra and buy the 3D version though for the extras disc, luckily it has the 2D version too.

Got to say that I quite liked it this time, I just put it out of my head that it was an Alien prequel.

The picture and sound quality are outstanding on this blu-ray. Haven't had a change to look at the extras disc yet.
