(I posted this in another forum, but I think I'll have better luck here)
The only thing I love more than monster movies are good monster movies. It seems like the closest thing we get to monster movies nowadays are things like Paranormal Activity, or those possession movies. Basically it's all either ghosts or demons and the protagonists are essentially as good as dead from the moment the movie starts. I'm trying to find some good monster movies where the monsters are more creative and the focus of the movie is on characters and how they interact with the monster. If you've ever seen "Tremors", I'm looking for movies like that. Something where there's a new animal-like monster that a rag tag group of likable characters have to match wits with. The scene where they tie a stick of dynamite to the rc car and make the graboid eat it, then blow up is awesome, but it's even cooler when the next graboid is smart enough to spit the dynamite back at the people. Smart enemies and smart protagonists make an awesome movie. So what are your suggestions? I feel like I can't find that many movies that fit this category of "survival monster horror" like what I'm wanting. And I know the first thing that'll come to your head when I say "survival horror" is probably going to be zombies, and that's fine, but if you've got anything else it would be more appreciated. (unless it's a really really good zombie movie) So thanks in advance if you've got any suggestions! And if you haven't seen Tremors, you should check it out. |

The Thing has got to be on the list of survival horror films. The original one being far superior to the remake of last year.

There was a film last year called Creature which is the closest thing I've seen to a proper monster movie for a while. I didn't like it though. Other than that there's the Piranha films and Shark Night which are equally rubbish. Sharktopus?

Other than that... The Mist is probably the best survival horror movie in recent memory, though its also incredibly depressing. And this - not the film, just the clip: Endhiran |

Guyver, Jeff or anyone else who's seen it... how bad is the Nightmare on Elm Street remake? My loveshite list is really low and it's one I haven't seen.
Is it A) watchable or B) excruiatingly bad? |

It's not great. I preferred the new Friday 13th film. That's not saying much.
