When do people like to see their films?

I wondered when people generally like to go and see their films at the Cinema.

During the daytime (work permitting, of course) or the evening and night?

How long before we go and see a new film too? I usually wait until the initial fuss has died down and the next film I am likely to see, THE HOBBIT, may be kept until the New Year before I venture out to see it.
