Hey troops - updated my list from way back when and added a few new ones...

Jarhead - Decent film with a strong performance from Gyllenhaal as mozzie said.
Kontroll - Well made and diverting underground flick.
Ray - Fantastic film with a phenomenal portrayal from Foxx. Oscar never more deserved.
Glory - Solid film. Zwick knows how to shoot war/battles and all three leads shine.
Mirrors (US) - Unremarkable but engaging enough... helps I like Kiefer.
Freeze Frame - Unusual, dark and bizarre tale... Lee Evans like you've never seen before!
Sweeney Todd - Quite liked this... low expectations helped. Kept thinking back to this watching Sacha Baron Cohen in Les Mis at the cinema.
The Great Raid
The Good German
The Warlords
The Dreamers
Battle Royale
The Man Who Would Be King
Before The Devil Knows You're Dead
Saturn 3
Dr Strangelove
Zombieland
Easy Virtue
A Scanner Darkly
Delicatessen
Casablanca
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas

Any views and recommendations much appreciated

Battle Royale > worth seeing, I seem to recall but it was a long time ago
Before The Devil Knows You're Dead > I liked it, good performances
Zombieland > good fun
Easy Virtue > AVOID, unless the missus wants to see it. It's awful
A Scanner Darkly > seen but can't remember
Delicatessen > good

Cheers moz, I can always count on the cat for advice... and on your birthday too!

Will definitely get round to Battle Royale soon. Had it on disc for ages - time to see what the fuss is about. Fancy BTDKYD too. Philip Seymour Hoffman usually guarantees class - plus I enjoy Marisa Tomei.

Easy Virtue that bad eh? Think I'll wipe it from the hard drive... unless anyone else has a kind word or two.

The Good German - beautifully shot, but strangely unmoving
Battle Royale - entertaining, because children are being killed
The Man Who Would Be King - good, with great performances
Before The Devil Knows You're Dead - fairly tense
Dr Strangelove - superb
Zombieland - found this rather tedious
Easy Virtue - typically Coward, typically annoying
A Scanner Darkly - enjoyed it
Delicatessenb- excellent
Casablanca - excellent
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas - okay, if that's your cup of tea, but I'd read the novel instead.

I remember now, I have seen this one...but it left me so unmoved that I forgot I'd seen it. Not recommended then. One of those style-over-substance, but if you don't mind a vacuous experience, it does have a 'look.

Seymour Hoffman is quality and ...Devil is one of his best roles. Tomei is hot and gets her tits out which is nice. Hawke is good too. Before the Devil is to armed robbery what Fargo is to kidnapping - a fiasco of fail.

LOL. They're Asian kids tho, therefore better behaved. I'd love to see a rough comp in say, Croydon get battle- royaled. In fact, can we commission this for TV? And so the posh kids aren't left out, how about Eton Hunger Games?

Thanks for your comments Jonesy - gonna add Bogart, Caine, Connery and Sellers to my 'must watch soon list', along with slaughtered Asian kids and Marisa's magnificent bits.

Moz, you're original review of The Good German was class, sparking this response from Jeff...

Whether as fiction or reality-TV, this idea should be put into effect immediately. Maybe even pit them one against the other, toffs vs chavs.
