Dvd and blu ray sales look like being where it found its fanbase. It's still selling well http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/blogs/mov...130222118.html I can't believe so few people saw it at the cinema.

It had a belting soundtrack too as others have said. It helped to lock in the cool factor.

Yep, it was by far one of the better comic book adaptations. For once we were subjected to gritty realism that too many fan boy movies lack. Loved the whole slow mo thing, especially when:
*SPOILER* Ma Ma's head was about to hit the concrete. Good film.

Watched it a second time. Still just as good and I love the slo-mo bits. I wonder if Karl Urban got tired of having that downturned mouth all the way through? Ma Ma is a great criminal. With that sneer and ragged hair she reminds me of a cat, probably why I like her.
![]() It begs for a sequel so we can discover more of the Judge's world. How disappointing. stupid USA - why you has no taste? |

I hear Alex Garland has plans for a trilogy, so hopefully the DVD sales plus his influence will generate a sequel.

I've done my bit to support it by buying on blu-ray. I watched my own copy last night. I love it. Urban is a star in this role, they couldn't have found a more perfect Dredd.
Hurry up, sequel! |

Someone also said they were making a couple of online shorts set in Mega City 1 but I don't know if Urban has agreed to return for them.

Setting the majority of the film in a single building was a work of genius as the relatively low budget did not need to be spent on expensive CGI cityscapes and such.
(That said, the special effects were great and handled skilfully and with care. They did not need to be in every shot of the film and were extremely effective when used. Furthermore, it allowed for more character development as audiences would not constantly be looking for the "wow!" factor in the background). GEORGE LUCAS could certainly benefit from watching and learning... There would be something criminal if DREDD was not given at least one sequel film. Perhaps a stint in the Cubes for HOLLYWOOD mogul types would change their minds sufficiently! |

Caught this and The Raid on the big screen. Both were excellent... hard to pick a favourite. I'd love to see a sequel to Dredd though. Really deserves one, so it's disappointing to hear this probably won't happen
