dojj, you may want to edit that post, considering it makes no sense whatsoever, either in content, or the fact that you rated Battleship.

Pans Labyrinth.
I may have to watch it again as I didn't realise I needed to read so many subtitles. It may be a while as well as its the only thing I had left to watch on my sky box while recovering from a week long bout of man flu and its not the sort of film I wanted to watch, even though I was eager to watch it when it was in the cinema and gutted that I missed it. 5 out of 10 so far, although this may change when I view it again. |

Did you have Man Flu watching Battleship, cus that was one of the worst films I've ever had the misfortune to try to stay awake through. Even my son got bored long before the end and he loves this stuff.

Tower Block. Really surprisingly entertaining low budget British thriller type nonsense. It has a pretty short running time but that's not a disadvantage. A couple of the characters grate but as a whole the film is a nice wee diversion 3/5

Just watched The Artist for the first time. It may be called a silent movie, but I really liked the minimal use of sound, it made it very impactful.

I kept waiting for it to get better.
It didn't. The story is great. The film is not. Probably due to the transition from book to film (and not the cheesy overacting but McNulty and the Princess). The first 10 minutes were great, the last 5 minutes were great, everything else in the middle was just a bit too complicated to follow and it left everyone yawning trying to remember all the plot twists and all the strange language. Glad I didn't watch this at the cinema, 1 out of 5 |

Killing Them Softly
This film seemed to divide critics and I can see why - it's talky and portentous and nihilistic, the characters are ugly, and it inserts the political commentary in a really obvious way that doesn't always work, although does sometimes provide a cynical laugh. There's also not a whole lot to the plot. That said, its well told, atmospheric and has some great performances. Scoot McNairy and Ben Mendelssohn are fantastic as the skeezy criminals at the film's centre, and James Gandolfini and Brad Pitt also shine. It's also got a couple of brilliant set-pieces - particularly the heist sequence at the beginning of the film, which ranks among the tensest moments in film, in my opinion. Easiest way to decide whether to see it: think Drive with political commentary replacing the dream-pop soundtrack. If that appeals to you, go for it. I'd give it a 3.5/5 |

Just watched Dredd, almost entirely on the basis of people's recommendations on here. You guys weren't wrong, it's one hell of an action film. Just the right blend of gritty, silly and trippy. Hope it gets a sequel.

Oz the great & Powerful
It was ok, nothing to write home about. Lacked the magic of the original. James Franco always looks like he is about to fall asleep during mid-sentence. |
