It was fun in a mindless popcorn movie kind of way, but I'm still scratching my head about who gave the go live for the movie in this form. They had an entire year to make changes that it would have benefitted from.

I've never seen a movie where the music was this distractingly inconsistent. And why was one of the witches looking like a leftover from a 90s rave that didn't fit in with the other ones?

If getting money and tax breaks from Germany means you have to hire local actors who apparently have never been in anything more than a play in a church basement if at all - please get the money somewhere else and hire real actors.

I don't know if my eyes are just getting old or the 3D conversion was bad, but the action scenes were really blurry to me.

Visually Dr. Seussing Grimm's fairy tales I can kind of overlook because they need to appeal to US audiences, but re-writing medical history for a non-pivotal plot point is just stupid.

I totally agree I definitely prefer the Korean version to this any day!!!!

Not sure I caught the medical history re-writing plot thread - that sounds like it may almost have been interesting!

I admit I was baffled by the whole film. The action and violence levels were clearly targeted at the teenage fanboy. But then why use a fairy story? And why was British actress Gemma Arterton sporting a US accent in a film set in Germany. Very, erm, creative...

Baffled is the right expression. I was wondering throughout the entire movie who they thought their target group was.

Re medical history: Hänsel und Gretel is a fairytale from 1812, the story of this movie is supposed to take place 15 years after that. Hänsel wouldn't have had access to insulin until at least 1910. Diabetes was known back then, but there was definitely no treatment that consisted of anything being injected.

Also, what they showed in the movie isn't even remotely how diabetes works and considering his line of work and not being treated properly, Hänsel would have long been dead anyway. Not just because his lifestyle wouldn't have helped with dealing with this disease in those times, but also because he would have had extensive nerve damage which on one hand would have caused him to underestimate injuries due to lack of pain and on the other would have weakened his heart considerably in those 15 years.

I'm willing to shut off a considerable part of my brain for good entertainment, but that was just stupid and wasn't even needed for the story.
