Does anyone remember Bad Taste being shown as part of BBC2's Forbidden Weekend around about 1995?
I remember posting something on an IMDB forum a few years back about Alex Cox introducing Bad Taste, and then also showing a documentary afterwards named something like Good Taste Made Bad Taste. I have vivid memories of this, and several other films and documentaries that were shown as part of Forbidden Weekend (I think The Devils with Oliver Reed was another). Does anyone else have any similair memories? I'd be really interested in any web content that anyone could point me to regarding this, as it's taken me ages to remember the title of the series Forbidden Weekend, as for ages I thought it was simply Moviedrome, but could find no mention of Bad Taste in relation to Moviedrome. I seem to remember taping this whole weekend but for the life of me I can't remember any of the other films shown.

I taped many of the films/docs also. My friend leant me Bad Taste, and after watching the intro had to turn it off cuz I was disturbed by the beach scene.
I THINK The Devils might have been part of it also. I also remember one of the documentaries talking about scenes from various films like Cannibal Holocaust, A Clockwork Orange, Straw Dogs (I think) that were cut due to their sexual violence. I'd love to know more about the programs, as it's been so long. I'm not even sure what prompted the BBC to show this, but THINK it may have been to celebrate 100 years of Cinema. |

It's probably safe to assume that they showed Shivers or Videodrome. I'm going to try and check this out.

Apparently that Forbidden Weekend season included first showings of The Devils, The Night Porter, Beat Girl and Bad Taste, as well as Performance, the 30s Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde and Pastor Hall. Source: http://www.criterionforum.org/forum/...php?f=6&t=1889 A few other sites I've come across that talk about this season are: http://www.daysarenumbers.net/wordpr...to-moviedrome/ http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-en...n-1621109.html http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/top.../10813/page/1/ And apparently Sight & Sound did a Forbidden Cinema supplement to complement the season, which you might be able to buy: http://www.moviepostersandbooks.co.uk/04rema03.htm |

Awesome Liz, thank you, I'm most impressed.
I also found this: http://www.seenoevil.aquiss.com/Cens...-SeeNoEvil.pdf Here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/top.../10813/page/1/ Which lists a number of programs and their air dates that have discussed various subjects such as censorship, and films that cut pretty close to the bone. |

I'd been looking for more info on BBC's Forbidden Weekend for years, and then came across this nugget:

Just registered to stick in this quick reply, I'm SeeNoEvil, who wrote that above linked 'Censored - UK Documentaries On Censorship, Horror And Video Nasties' PDF file, and created that OriginalTrilogy forum thread too. I'm still working away in the same direction and have just started this forum thread too, hopefully someone might be able ho help?
