Default How long can you last underwater?

I just watched ‘Outlander’ the other day (and sadly quite enjoyed it, despite its many faults) and couldn’t help but laugh at just how long the main character could last underwater without breathing.

Maybe it’s just me, as getting trapped underwater has always been a bit of a phobia of mine, but I was just wondering how many other people in films seem to have superhuman abilities to survive underwater (an Kevin Costner in Waterworld doesn’t count)?

If you ever get round to trying it, I would strongly advice not tying lead weights to your feet for added realism.

I don't know how long I can last underwater but there are plenty of people I would like to see how long they can last. And put my foot on them when they try to get up.

Remind me to get out of the water if you ever get into the same swimming pool as me!
