Akira was on Syfy in HD over the weekend. I haven't got to watch it yet. Let us know if it's a proper rescan or just an upscale. I already have it on DVD and a lot of the time the HD versions of films are a bit pointless.

It's a beautiful transfer. Can't imagine Akira ever looking much better outside of a cinema. Has a 'hypersonic' audio soundtrack too assuming you have a decent enough home cinema system to play the TrueHD audio. Even comes with a nice book with several essays on how they went about exploring this audio innovation.

Still have no idea what's going on at the end though.
