I've seen Monsters V Aliens but not in Hi Def yet. It's on my list of future purchases though. I can see my Blu-Ray collection in a few months time being mostly animated films, superhero films and soulless Michael Bay CGI explosionfests.

Sounds exactly like my collection.

With Christmas looming I shall be writing a list to Santa (the wife) for quite a few blu-ray's. The list will include

Iron Man 2
Inception
Alien box set
A Team
Expendables
Salt
Predators
The Karate Kid (Jackie Chan)
Three Kings
Lethal Weapon box set
Robocop trilogy
Knight & Day

Does the Alien Blu-ray box set have the same extras as the quadrilogy dvd? The docs and stuff on that alone were worth the price.

Not sure if they are the same but it does say 60 hours of extras.

Yeah, it does. Plus the uncut making of Alien 3, and extra bits for all the rest.

And the Cameron approved Aliens transfer is a revelation.

Agreed, I was worried when I read that he was changing the colour balance but I think it looks fantastic. Alien looks amazing too.

Default My picks

I would say that Kill Bill 1 & 2 and sin city are a good pick, the Godfather box set, Zulu, 2001: a Space Odyssey. Up, Wall-e, Iron Man, Moon, District 9 and hear me out, if you're just looking for visual excellence, Speed Racer is absolute must, it's not a terrible film but it should definitely be listed under guilty pleasure. If you can find it, Black Narcissus is a great example of how good an old film can look and it is also an excellent film to boot. For an example of a bad transfer, check out the first release of the fifth element.

Seven

I jumped on the bandwagon (after Ancient & fortunes) and got myself a blu-ray copy of this. Glad I did. It's simply beautiful in HD, all the grot and grime comes to new detailed life like a feast for your eyes, and blacks are nice and inky. Some choice bonus features too.
Kevin Spacey was so young.
