As much as I have liked Elba in some things I thought his acting was awful in Luther. If Bond were to be black I'd prefer Colin Salmon.

If Paramount can sell their Marvel franchises to Disney I don't see what's stopping MGM selling the rights to Bond i'm sure plenty of the other studios would jump at the chance to take up the franchise.

But in leading roles thus far he has been a sub par, 'The Wire' was lightning in a bottle though. I had to Google Salmon! He's Paul WS Anderson's lucky charm, should have totally recognised him. Minus ten points for Hufflepuff ![]() Not a bad shout, he has a more quintessentially Englishness about him, certainly more in keeping with Bond's class level. At least we can hopefully agree Noel Clarke would be shit?!

If there were a black Bond Idris Elba is a good call. I would also suggest Chiwetel Ejiofor and Paterson Joseph.
As for Colin Salmon he is smooth and debonaire but he's already played Chief of Staff Charles Robinson in 3 Bond films so wouldn't really work in my eyes. Noel Clarke's doing well for himself - but yes, he would be shite! One for the future (after Daniel, Clive or Rupert are done with the gig) is Tom Hardy. He would make a superb 007 with his dry wit and bruising physicality. |
