I laughed my ass off at the 'tear jerking' end of Seven Pounds because it was so bloody stupid. More sentimental souls sobbed quietly, I cackled loudly.

Well, the masturbation scene in Auto Focus is bloody hilarious - two guys playing with themselves as they watch their homemade porn and debate why women are so difficult to live with. But then again, that scene is meant to be funny - you just have to have a grubby sense of humour in order to get it.
As for films that certainly weren't meant to generate laughs, it would be difficult to beat the pool scene in Showgirls.

The first time I saw Charles' death in X3 The Last Stand I lol-ed because it was such an undignified death for such a dignified chap. It really was. So it was darned funny. Felt bad for laffing though.

It was the goofy grin on his face just before he carked it that made me laugh, like he'd had a really satisfying fart.

I know, right. It's like it was meant to be funny, then everyone's going "Bwaaah - Charles is dead!". Fail.

Hello everyone,
first: Mr. Silly - totally agree concerning your comment on the "Antichrist". Watched it at a press-screening and couldn't believe, there were such a few people laughing... But here is another one...ages ago, I ruined a movie for a (male) friend of mine: "The Specialist" with Sly Stallone and Sharon Stone...remember the shower-scene?? I believe, it was supposed to be sexy and erotic and it was sooooooooo not...I laughed so hard, tears streamed down my face... Greetz |

Generally any scene with Nicholas Cage from the re-make of Wicker Man made me laugh. Cage is constantly punching women at random moments and even his death scene was just silly. The fact that the whole movie was suppose to be about a police investigation of a girl being "kidnapped" and possibly used for ritual sacrifice makes me think that filmmakers weren't trying to go for a comedic mood. I think the combination of horrible script writing and Nicholas Cage's supreme overacting really made this hilarious to watch (e.g. "Killing me won't bring back your goddamn honey!"). If you want to submit yourself to two hours of a creepy yet awkwardly funny horror film, watch the original, they got away with it better in the 70's.

There's a scene in Sleepers where DiNiro is being told about all the horrific abuse the kids suffered. The camera pans around DiNiro for a solid minute while he struggles to emote but actually looks like he wishes the camera would just feck off.
I can only guess that DiNiro was on loan and the director was determined to get his money's worth. Almost spoils an otherwise superb film. |

The bit where Roman, if I remember correctly, pushes a priest down the stairs, I laughed my arse off. And of course when Anakin goes noooooooo at the end of Revenge of the Sith because it's bleeding awful and you had to laugh or cry at money you've just wasted.
