Years ago, Some like it Hot was the movie that made me realise that old, classic films weren't necessarily boring. This film opened my eyes to hundreds of movies I wouldn't have given a chance otherwise. He will be missed.

I thought he was already dead!

Like Jonesy said, I too was much of a fan of his, but he was one of the "greats" of cinema, and its always sad when it happens.

Him, Arthur Penn and ....? They usually come in threes. They had this actress called Estelle Parsons on BBC Breakfast today eulogising him and she pretended to die on the sofa.

It made my chuckle over my Special K.

I'll always remember him for his charismatically slimey performance in Sweet Smell Of Success. Which incidentally I watched again this morning, terrific film.

I read that feature and to be honest all i knew for sure he had produced was evil dead sequels and conan but his cv is a lot more impressive than I gave him credit for. I feel a bit stupid after reading it.
