Default Do you buy blu-rays of dvds you already own?

i don't, because i'm not intrested in all this back stage stuff and what the director thought of each scene and all that new fngled tech where you can link to the real life internet updates on the films and all that other stuff

besides, if i wait long enough, they always appear on sky in hd

so what films do you already own that you would deffo get again if a bluray version came out?

nothing comes to mind personally but i'd like to know what would tempt you to part with your hard earned

I have replaced a few of my dvd's with Blu-rays, last couple were The Fifth Element and the Rocky boxset. I have replaced a few older titles too, Enter the Dragon, The Thing and The Warriors.

i only buy dvd's to play in the car tv for the kids, but otherwise it's the single editions for me as the film is what's important

i even waited for the long winded version of lord of the rings, so sod buying that again on bluray, the mrs won't let me watch one on it's own

You have a TV in your car? You're far too posh to be on this forum..lol.

My Mrs doesn't watch too many films with me unless they are rom coms. Luckily I have my own room (garage conversion) with a flatscreen on the wall and surround sound, so I can watch what i like without being moaned at.

I will replace DVD's with Bluray if I find the BD cheap enough. £6-£8 quid depending on the film. But I'm also mindful that some of the releases of older films might not be as HD as the cover would claim. But I have no qualms about buying films again.
I am an official Bluray snob.

Me too punchbowl, I bought Three Kings for £7 last week, the picture is only slightly better than the dvd but for £7 it was worth it.

there's one in the front and 2 in the back, the kids love it and the mrs doesn't get car sick

but seeing as I've already got a 50" plasma and a ps3 downstairs, the ps3 plays everything virtually and it's only when you compare the pics between bluray and a dvd that you see what you are missing

but in saying that, you can't just swap discs over so as punchbowl has said, if they are cheap enough then sure, but if they are double digits then no

Default Buying blu-ray versions of dvds we already own

I have purchased several films on Blu-ray which I previously owned on DVD, all of which are firm favourites of mine anyway, but nowadays just tend to purchase the Blu-rays of newer releases.

If I own a DVD and see the Blu-ray selling at special offer, more often than not I shall purchase it. However, I always check out the special features and version of the film first to see if they are an improvement on the DVD original and therefore worthy of adding to my collection.

Default Blu ray replacements.

I would really love to replace most, if not all my collection of Dvd's to Blu ray. Would cost the Earth though ! I do continue to replace some that offer themselves to the Blu format, though, (Zulu, Starship troopers, The Thing to name a few). If you are into them, Blu also offers a lot more special features per disc generally.
