Default Films that are just plain good old fashioned fun.

Having watched The Mummy the other day and it fitting in the above catagory, it got me thinking, what other films slot into this far too rare niche?

Default Does this count?

What about Tremors?? How can you not love Tremors!!?

We definitely need more monster movies like this one. Not much to be said for the sequel (or sequels, I honestly haven't seen past Tremors 2...)

The Mummy is an enjoyable romp isn't it? The charactera and effects are fun and the pacing and zippy interplay/dialogue is entertaining. It's afilm that I knew nothing about when i saw it and came away loving it.

I'm a sucker for 'Shanghai Noon' personally, Owen Wilson's randomly crap hippy cowboy and Jackie Chan's fish out of water were ace. Would you believe that was the first Chan film I'd seen? One of the few films I admit to laughing out oud to in the cinema.

As for classics great fun films, nothing can cheer me up quite like 'Kelly's Heroes', such a wacky film just because of the great ensemble cast. Whether it's Savalals's ranting and raving at his slightly rubbish troops, Sutherland's glorious time travelling hippy tank commander, but I also have a soft spot Don Rickles.

Gonna have to go for dumb action buddy movie Wecome To The Jungle or The Rundown as it's known in the states. Can't beat the Walken in hammy villian mode.

Good suggestions peeps. Strangely good shout with Crank, in a rather odd way.

So, so far we have;

The Mummy
Crank?!?!?!
Tremors (good call)
And Kibas suggestion of Catch Me If You Can
The Goonies (gotta be in the list)

Im not sold on "Shanghai Noon" or "Kellys Heros" but thats just me and i'm picky

Don't worry, I caught him with a leg sweep

Not a fan of Van Helsing I have to say. The key ingredients are there... mythical monsters, Hugh Jackman (always watchable) and Kate Beckinsale in a corset. I mean, what's not to like? Somehow though this creature feature doesn't deliver and the whole thing's just a big, blurry cgi mess.

The Princess Bride, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Romancing The Stone and, more recently, Prince Of Persia are my idea of good old fashioned fun.

I agree with Prince of Persia, and dare I say GI Joe? I thought it was good old fashioned fun.

My shout goes to The Fugitive, a film that I can watch when it comes on TV at least once a year and just get swept along with all the brilliant action...
