Yeah, we mainly recognise him for his rousing performance in Dungeons & Dragons.

Damn good shout Jay, I think she is the best thing in the film.
Leo DiCaprio - Catch Me If You Can/Whats Eating Gilbert Grape, he captures eveything that makes the character great, and most importantly for DiCaprio, he has a bit of fun with it too. In Gilbert Grape I was astounded to discover (at the time obviously) that he wasn't disabled. Jimmy Stewert - Rear Window/Its a Wonderful Life, totally perfect in every frame, some say he was too "shucks" crap I say, just watch Rear Window again and tell me if anyone else could of pulled it off...or the moment in Its A Wonderful Life when he gets home at the end...nobody but Jimmy. Viggo Mortensen - Eastern Promises/LOTR, Nikolai in Eastern Promises is one of the most subtle and yet charismatic performances of recent years, he owns every scene while seeming to do barely anything, a master class in refined acting. LOTR has never had any accolades for its acting, but I think Viggo is perfect as Aragorn, strong, yet sensitive. Mortensen captures Aragorns natural struggle of the leader who doesnt want to be one perfectly. The line "For Frodo" in front of The Black Gates is one of the best moments in the films, the way he says it, the way he has no hesitation about what must be done, the look of resigned and noble death in his eyes, wonderful. Al Pacino - The Godfather pt I & II How many superlatives can I chuck about? As with Mortensen in Eastern Promises this is a performance with almost no acting, its all in the eyes, the subtle nuances of a shift in body position, its frightening how much talent this man had at one point in his life, so many scenes come to mind when i think of him in those films...when he kills McClucsky and Sollozzo, when he tells Fredo he knew it was him, his face when Kay tells him that she had an abortion...powerful stuff, and a shame that he hasnt done anything like this since. There are more but I could be here all night!

Michael Wincott in "Assasination of Richard Nixon"
He has one scene which EVERY young actor should watch! Also, Humphrey Bogart in "African Queen" is the best ever! LONG LIVE BOGIE! |

I know you are a big fan of Michael Wincott but can you really compare him to the other actors mentioned on this thread?

I had to look up who he was, as I didn't have a clue.

I did too and then I remembered I had seen his face in a couple of films but nothing really memorable.

Indeed. And a fairly annoying face at that.

Michael's shoes can act better than Leo DiCrapio.
![]() Sorry, I don't fall for those mainstreamers who surf the hype waves, but do agree with most of your choices with a few exceptions. |
