Hi,
Just a question for the users of the forum... I'm guessing we all play games in some capacity and I'm just interested in who plays what? How would you describe yourself - a casual gamer or an ultra geek? Does anyone even go so far as to play games competitively? I myself work in the games industry and have gone from being a competitive gamer across a few titles (Tekken, counter-strike, Team Fortress 2) to now just being a general one... I have to play loads of different games usually for reviewing purposes, although some are "keepers". So, who here is hardcore? |

Not me. Im very much a casual gamer. Mostly due to time constraints and the fact I would rather be clubbing or watching movies.
I've got a PS3 though and Im currently playing F.E.A.R. 2 which is not too bad. Top of want list is Fallout Las Vegas.

I'm looking forward to the next Fallout too... Been a long standing fan of the series and was really blown away by Fallout 3, which I didn't think could work.

I'm reasonably hardcore, but I'm restricted by my budget. I don't play many competitive games, but I do make a point of keeping up to date with any games on the horizon, gotta know where my cash is going.

I don't play competitively, but I do love gaming. It's taken over film as my main area of interest in the last year. I just do not have the patience these days to sit through films any more when I could be immersed in something far more kinetic and involving. Films these days have turned to shite. The monumental fuss over Avatar just says it all. I still sit through some classics or a film with the kids, but generally, gaming > movies. |

It varies. I do enjoy my RPG's from time to time, as I know I'll get plenty of playtime out of them. I currently only own a PS3 so my selection is limited further, but I generally opt for soemthing with extended combat systems or third person shooters. Went off FPS's a while back. As such, this year I've thoroughly enjoyed Red Dead Redemption and Yakuza 3, but other than that I've largely been playing catch up with older games I initially missed out on (dirt cheap now). Right now I'm playing Red Faction: Guerrilla and looking forward to Mafia II, which really impressed me with its demo.

I've got a copy of Mafia II winging its way to me for reviewing purposes. I was a big fan of the first one so I'm looking forward to that. Will never forget the ending to the first game.
Red Dead Redemption was an incredible feat too. Literally was taken aback by it.

Im kind of in the middle. Various other things take priority, however I dont get as much play time as I would like.
Online I play Battlefield 2 with a well known (in PSN terms) and respected clan (Drunken Knights or DK) however we dont play competitavely, mainly because games are more fun when you play for fun. Any clan matches that we have are always for the fun of it, we want to win, and mostly do, but its never in a league, too many angry Americans. Offline I like any game that is story driven, or at least tries to be, or does something different, this years top games for me have been the astounding Bioshock 2 and Assasins Creed 2. Im on PS3, so if anyone hasnt added me feel free ![]() thedude4000 @Castro, RDR was a brilliant game, a step up in all areas over GTA4, which was flawed and tried too hard, not too mention dull as f*ck in places.
