I caught Jared Leto being interviewed by Alan Carr last night, and he just looked sooooo cooool: peroxide blond mohawk, black leather, green nail varnish... And he came across really well. And then I thought about Requiem For A Dream, and how cool that was too. Cool on-screen and cool off-screen, I said to myself...
Who would you nominate? Or maybe someone who's just consistently cool on-screen... [And I know I used the word "cool" 5 times in this post. Six if you count this sentence]. |

Liz, Liz, Liz, Leto looks like he's been dressed by Danny La Rue. He's achingly desperate to try to convince everyone he's a bona fide rock star, and not just an actor trying a bit of singing. I admired him in Requiem, but these days, he just makes me snigger derisively.
Cool is Christopher Walken. Even looking like a tramp, as he tends to recently, he's still effortlessly cool.

Mickey Rourke, saw him on Johnny Woss and he is way cool even though his face looks like it has gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson.

Mickey has mellowed with time and become quite a dude ( when he was young and arrogant he was detestable) but he still makes some dodgy judgement calls. Specifically, while it's nice that he stands by his friend Mel Gibson - a guy who needs some friends nowadays - he went slightly overboard saying "Ah, f**k the bitch" about the palaver between Mel and his ex who released the tapes. It was like he was saying Bitch is making my friend Mel look bad. No. Mel is making your pal Mel look bad. You can help but wonder if it isn't because Mickey in the past has been accused, by ex girlfriends, of bashing them around a bit too.
saying that I don't know the guy personally so he could be the saviour of homeless kittens and the nicest guy on earth for all I know. |

Paul Bettany would be the first to admit he's not cool, but I find him extremely likeable and funny, offscreen. Onscreen he is whatever his character demands he be. Sometimes, like in A Beautiful Mind, it's geeky but he embodies roles completely. I generally find it easy to forget he's acting at all. He's taken some rubbish lately but he's still cool in my mind.
Sharlto Copley seems cool on and off camera, and Cillian Murphy, although slightly reserved at times, seems likeable, intelligent and charming. James McAvoy, I like him too. Vincent Cassell. He rocks. Last edited by Kiba.; 11-09-2010 at 11:55 AM. |

Lauren Bacall was cool. My god, she was cool. Probably still is, if you can get over the fact that she now looks like a bloke.

I agree. The pants have been getting higher and higher lately and you want to take him for a decent haircut, but who cares. He's still Chris The Man. Peerless.

Yes to Jeff Bridges. Recently watched his BRILLIANT performance in Crazy Heart and that man has nailed cool and laconic dead.
For my shout though its got to be Clint Eastwood. In the old days with Leonne or up to date in Gran Turismo he is THE MAN.
