Has anyone watched the Robot Chicken Star Wars episodes on Syfy? Every few days they're showing all 3 episodes back to back. An entertaining way to kill a couple of hours if you get the chance.

Default American Horror Story

My previous post on this thread said I was giving up on American Horror Story. Well I lied (*gasp*) I kept watching it and it did get better. Okay, it's not scary-scary but there is something about it which keeps us watching each week. This week's episode contained an unexpected reveal about one of the main chars which was quite edgy.
It's campy, mildly kinky, funny and has some funky ideas. The characters took a while to develop but made it worthwhile in the end. It's a dark comic soap opera.

Smile Grimm is grimly great

One of the best shows on TV right now.

Good characters. Great approach to fairy tale characters

Thoughts?

Talking Suits

Anyone watching suits on Dave? It's a really good show about a guy pretending to be a lawyer at a high end law firm after he ended up interviewing for the job to avoid the cops who were chasing him (his friend had set him up on a drugs delivery) and he's pretty much learning as he goes although he has passed the bar.

Default Outcasts

Despite having missed it when originally shown on the BBC, I recently saw the sci-fi drama OUTCASTS on blu-ray.

All in all quite an enjoyable series, despite some of the characters occassionally doing silly things, such as chasing (possibly armed) suspects without calling for assistance first.

It was left on a nice cliff-hanger, too, which simply highlights what a pity the BBC could not justify a second installment! Perhaps they feared the drama was too complex and mature for much of the television audience and therefore opted for the safe option of further Reality shows instead...

being without telly and internet the past wee while I decided it was finally time to watch The Wire on DVD. Finished up Season 1 at the weekend and watched first ep of Season 2 last night. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't say I'm mega hooked - does it get better? What is everyone favourite series of the wire?

Default Garth Marenghi's Dark Place

Any fans of this amazing show on the forum?

For those of you that aren't familiar, it is a fantastically funny horror/sci-fi spoof show, written by Matthew Holness and TF's regular columnist, Richard Ayoade.

It is essentially about a fictional television show commissioned back in the 80's named DarkPlace, which was deemed 'too radical' to be shown at the time and has finally been allowed to be aired. However, the show doesn't quite live up to it's reputation in the modern era...
The show-within-the-show (still with me?) is cut together with interviews with the cast and crew (played brilliantly by Holness, Ayoade and Matt Berry - of The IT crowd fame.)

It does a good job of capturing the cheesey essence of tv shows from that era (think along the lines of The Incredible Hulk and The A-Team) as well as the occassionally bad editing, special effects, costumes and music. It's mocumentary style interviews in each episode are priceless.

It really is such a great show and has a cult following on DVD. If you haven't seen it, give it a go. Stand out episode: "The Creeping Moss from the Shores of Shuggoth."

So any other fans out there?

I like it! Definitely more entertaining than most lawyer shows I've seen. Personally, it could do away with the conflict amongst Rachel, Mike and Jenny but I like the characters.
