Cool What's your best Mob Movie?

Am torn between Carlito's Way and Goodfellas but also love The Departed, Scarface all Godfather Trilogy - tough to rate a winner here. What do you reckon?

The best mob films were made in the Thirties and it's a shame you've ignored them in your poll.

I love every one of those films, but for old school gangster/mob film has to be The Godfather, Goodfellas coming a very very close second.

I like those films but my favourite not on the list. If I was to choose one it would be Godfather. Where's Angels with Dirty Faces or even On the Waterfront? There's a few fairly modern films on the list with no Miller's Crossing and I much prefer Casino to Carlito's Way.

On The Waterfront is most definitely NOT a mob film. Its about the unions of the day. Casino likewise isnt really about the mob although they play a part. Millers Crossing IS organized crime but not the mob, its set far to early for thier influence. I think the films i the poll cover pretty much the top mob films. Jonesy I agree that there were early films that should be acknowledged but I still think those on the poll are the top ones. Angels With Dirty Faces might be the exception, its a matter of choice really.

Angels with Dirty Faces, The Roaring Twenties, Public Enemy, Little Caesar , the original Scarface - they are all top class films and shouldn't be ignored. They set the benchmark, and are absolutely superb. Goodfellas wouldn't exist without them. And Scorsese himself would never claim to have bettered them.

Think I was thinkingmore of films with gangster elements to them instead of films just about the mafia.

'Untouchables' is quality, the soundtrack, the Mountie charge, that creepy guy doing for Connery, the train station pram sequence.

Gommorha? (sp) City of God?

But are we self limiting to solely Italian American mafia flavoured films?

Because amongst the mockney shite of the early noughties we had some fairly decent organised crime films 'Snatch' 'Gangster Number 1' 'Layer cake'.

Not to mention the legend that is 'Long Good Friday', awesome soundtrack and one of the best closing scenes of any crime film, Hoskins, when he was a bull of a man, grinding his teeth in frustration, accepting of defeat, but bristling with rage.

You know for a fact he'd have gone down fighting.

While I agree with Jonesy's comments the thing I find most upsetting about the poll is the option "The Godfather Trilogy" - separate choices for part one and two but most importantly - HOW CAN ANYONE VOTE FOR IT IF THE THIRD IS INCLUDED?
