The TV series was a great achievement and did well to play it completely straight in a genre of ever diminishing returns.

The Graphic Novel, while great, is totally derivative of the Zombie genre and hardly breaks any new ground in terms zombie apocalypse horror, plus a shot for panel translation would have been tedious.

I'm looking forward to the continued character development and one of the source material's strengths is it's almost 'Wire' tendency to kill off seemingly central characters indiscriminately with little fan fair. Should make for some interesting story lines.

Yup. The zombies are contracted for at least another twelve episodes And the set caterers have stocked up on brains.

Darabont did a great job in twsting AMC's arm to allow such necessary gore. If he sticks to the source materials superb narrative then this will get darker and even bleaker. I for one can’t wait until the walking dead shuffle back onto our screens this Autumn.

yeah but if series 2 starts with..... six months later..... i'm gone, seriously if you leave yer average zombie in the sun it will dry out,put it in the shade, mouldy - remember ,it's a disease not a lifestyle choice. You've got to take care of them if you want them to last(series 3 anyone?).
