Default Jamie Bell rumoured to be in next Bond film as a 'rival agent'

Hi there, long-time lurker, thought I'd join because I came across this. I sometimes check in to a Jamie Bell blog, and I noticed the other day that it linked to another Jamie Bell blog I didn't know for a story about him being under consideration to be cast in the next Bond film. I thought this was probably a hoax, but when I clicked on
the link to go to the other blog, the story had disappeared. Curious, I thought I'd turn detective. I tried a few Google searches, and came up with the cache of the original post:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&hl=en&ct=clnk

Here's what it says in case that also goes offline:

'Jamie in the next Bond film? Could be!
I don't usually do rumours, but I just spotted this one over at a film
site called Cinemablend and thought it sounded pretty interesting. For
those of you who were at the UK Defiance do, you may remember Jamie
and Daniel Craig joking around about how they would work together in
the future, perhaps as rival "Double Oh" agents, and that they both
had a real glint in their eye like they knew something but had spoken
out of turn. I tried to press Jamie on this a few weeks back, but got
nowhere, but then he can be like that when something's in the
pipeline. So perhaps for that reason alone this little item intrigues.
Then again, it might just be complete tommyrot! I'll see if I can
squeeze some more out of Jamie when he gets back.

Jamie Bell in contention for a part in the next Bond film?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I'm British, and work on the edges of the
film industry. I read the article about Rachel Weisz possibly being
the big villain in the next Bond movie, and asked a friend of mine
about it who's got a very good job at Pinewood and works closely with
EON. He told me that that story wasn't true, but that casting was
under discussion, in particular for the part of a younger agent who M
pits against James Bond to show him that he has to earn his keep. This
would be an agent in his early twenties, handsome and cocky, a bit
like Bond when he was younger, and a rivalry develops between them.
Not a major part, but not a cameo. He claimed they had looked at lots
of people for it, but that the current favourite - and Daniel's - is
Jamie Bell.

Take it for what you will.'

Weird, eh? And the link they give to the forum doesn't work.

What do we think? It all sounds a very weird to me, but the blog looks to be by a long-running Bell fan who has some sort of inside knowledge about the guy. Could it be true, or do we think it's just a hoax? And do we think Jamie Bell would be any good in a Bond film?

John

Yeah he would be good, if he played a dancing agent, tip tapping his way through the bad guys lair, dazzling the henchmen with his soft shoe shuffle or maybe they could use Louie Spence from Pineapple Dance studios.

His weapon of choice should be the gun 'Wendy' from Dear Wendy.

Sorry to put your dreams down mate but the fact is Jamie Bell was a one hit wonder and has about as much acting talent as the wooden horse in The Great Escape.

Eh? It's not my dream - I'm just reporting a rumour I've spotted in the section of the site called 'The Rumour Mill'. Why such hostility to a new member?

(Also, I thought he was pretty good in Defiance, myself.)

And sorry for bothering the Rumour Mill with a possible rumour, then!

No stick around. We grow on you honest. But its still a good example of..
A) Why blogs are a total waste of time, being as they are just a lot of half arsed opinions and rumours.
B) A totally dumb idea if it is true. Its against every concept of Bond thats ever been. He's a lone assassin not a nursemaid for some young wannabee. They have other spies for that.
C) An example of an actor being ridiculously over rated.

Ps. Sorry to have come on a bit strong with the humour.

No problem at all. I agree that most blogs are filled with daft rumours, but this one struck me as being quite strange, as it's been going for several years and seems to have deleted the post after a warning from the Bond producers. As they hardly ever put their head over the parapet, I just wonder if the blogger stumbled onto a leak by mistake and got cut off fast. Perhaps not, but it is pretty weird. Unless you use Google's cache thing, both sources of the rumour have vanished completely - hard to see why.
