MANY times. Why? Because life is too short, and I get into most movies for free.

I've walked out of "Year One", "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", "G.I. Joe", "The Green Lantern"...

Ok, so not paying for a film gives me the freedom of being a snob. True, if I had paid, I would suffer though them, although in my defence, I probably wouldn't have gone in the first place.

Bad signs in a film... A long pointless piece of exposition at the beginning of the film that a clever film maker would have revealed as the story progresses (The Sorcerer's Apprentice), terrible jokes that I can see coming a mile away (Year One), bad acting... oh, and if a film is over two hours long, and I'm not riveted after 20 minutes... do I really want to feel my ass going numb over the next two hours? Peter Jackson, I'm talking to you...

I walked out a couple of times this year, but mostly because i go to the press screanings ( I write for a magazine a website and my blog) so if I feel the movie's not good enough for me to miss my classes at uni and i'm not gonna write about it anyway I'll sometimes leave. Other journalists very often do... (a little too often if you ask me, I just hope they don't have the nerve to write about that particualr movie...)

I'm a little amazed by what some people consider to be horrible movies though I have to say:

pulp fiction?
reservoir dogs?
crash?
being john malkovich?

I walked out of "the ugly truth" too, wanting to hit the guy I was on a date with for being stupid enough to enjoy it.

Yes, on Saturday (15th October) I walked out of a showing of Asshole at the London Film Festival.

Didn't pay for the ticket, but it was the biggest load of tripe I'd ever seen. And, in case you're interested, it was the jacking off scene that made me walk out.

Never walked out but I fell asleep during the third Lord of the Rings.
Also, I turned off the DVD of Four Lions about halfway through the other day, I don't normally give up but it just wasn't working for me. I decided to study instead which shows just how bored I was.

Walked out of Air America about 20 minutes in. I just couldn't stand watching the Gibson vs Downey Jr "smug-off". Considering I was a guest at the premiere in Melbourne, I wasn't too popular.

Thumbs down

I recently went to see Melancholia. I survived an hour and couldn't believe what a load of drivel I was sitting through. I could not have survived another 1 hour and 17 minutes of bizarre, random rubbish.
