Disagree with The Loved Ones. I thought it was derivative, full of plotholes and boring.

Sweeney Todd - I found it boring
Jarhead - not bad, worth a look. Jake is good in it
The Ploughman's Lunch - saw it many moons ago and it put me to sleep
Mirrors - excellent for the first two acts or so, loses it towards the end in OTTness and cheeze
The Loved Ones - doesn't pull any surprises, as Ancient One said but I didn't mind it. It had a sub story running through it that felt kind of pointless and filler {geeky boy + goff girl}
Battle Royale - I remember it as being very good

Thanks for the feedback guys. Want to give Battle Royale and Kontroll a go but have to be in 'the mood' to watch a subtitled film. Enjoyed The Host a while back which was very quirky with a dark sense of humour, and have seen Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon a number of times, though not for a while. Oldboy was a terrific experience too - very original and unexpected, but settling down to these foriegn language films requires a certain state of mind.

Based on your comments I'm gonna make Jarhead or The Loved Ones my next choice.

Talking about The Sting I was surprised at how much Robert Redford reminded me of Brad Pitt. His mannerisms and physicality in this film were identical to BP's and I wonder if the latter has modelled himself on RR or if that's just his natural style? Oddly I didn't get this connection from Spy Game but I guess it's the young Redford full of swagger that appears so familiar.

The Loved Ones
I enjoyed it. Nasty little film, not the kind I'd usually watch but I was pleasantly surprised. The 'princess' is seriously psycho and indulges in a variety of twisted torture scenarios on her prey. Her father's a bit of a fruit loop too - given a longer running time their relationship could've plumbed even greater depths of depravity. I didn't mind the subplot either - Jamie trying to leap across the bonnet providing one of the few moments of comic relief... plus Mia is hot! Goths don't usually do it for me but oh yeah, she was smokin'. Good shout guys

Think I'll try Jarhead, Mirrors (US) or Sweeney Todd next. Anyone have a kind word or two for ST?

I think its worth at least one watch. Burton's stuff usually is.

I found it incredibly tedious. I was a fan of Burton's films, once and I love traditional Hollywood musicals. But this was a chore and Depp was miscast.

I'll admit to enjoying Sweeney Todd for what it is, and I haven't really enjoyed a Burton movie in a while. However I'll also admit to falling asleep during the movie the first two times I attempted to watch it.

I was just digging through our DVDs and found a film called Wrecked with Adrien Brody in it. I have never heard of it and it's got some average reviews but I like the sound of the minimal plot and setting. Has anyone seen it?

Most recently, Kill List. It goes from a fairly standard plot to something completely odd and different in the last half an hour.
