Default READ THIS: British independent filmmakers launch Crowdsourcing initiative

Newly-established film company, Snowman Film Productions, are launching an innovative 'crowdsourcing' scheme to raise seed money to get their new film made. Visitors to the Director's website - www.reynoldsfilms.com - are invited to donate anything from as little as £1 to become sponsors of the film Snowman and to gain member-only access to short films, sneak peeks at the script, filmmaker masterclasses, behind the scenes videos and exclusive clips of the film as it's edited.

Michelle Duffy, the film's producer says, “This is a really exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to support filmmakers and small business to get involved and find out how a micro-budget film develops from script to screen.”

Writer/director Stephen Reynolds, the other half of the Snowman Film Productions team, aims to follow up his massive online success with the fanfilm, TombRaider: Ascension, with this feature-length vigilante movie set on the grimy backstreets of Britain.

TombRaider: Ascension, an unofficial and not-for-profit cheeky addition to the Lara Croft mythology, was one of the biggest micro-budget film successes of 2008, downloaded over 20,000 times on its first day of internet release. Not bad on a PR budget of £0.00.

Now Stephen hopes to build on that guerilla success with his new movie. Snowman is the story of Michael, an outsider attacked by a feral street gang, whose life is saved by a stranger. When that stranger is killed, Michael starts on his journey to become a fearsome vigilante warrior.

Reynolds, who wrote the Snowman script and is set to direct, says, “With Snowman, I want to explore how an ordinary man discovers his purpose in life, becoming an urban warrior. He stands up to anti-social behaviour and the kind of criminals that don't seem to get justice. It's a dark and violent story, but I want it to be inspiring to people too.”

The filmmakers hope to shoot the film in November 2011 for an early 2012 release.
