Default Movies you put off seeing for ages then kick yourself when they're great.

I just watched, and loved, Scott Pilgrim but had put it off for ages because ... well, I don't know why.

Now kicking myself for having not gone to see it in the cinema.

Next up is Kick Ass. Anyone else put off seeing a film only to love it when you finally do?

If a film wins Oscars, for some reason I'll often try and avoid them. I did this with Brokeback Mountain, then when I did eventually see it, I thought it was a masterful piece of film making.

Really? I thought it was a bad TV movie with great cinematography. And Anne Hathaway's hair was the only way of telling that decades were passing.

Brick. I do this quite often, where the name of a film will make me associate it with something else, and if it's a bad something else, I'll avoid watching it.

Brick reminded me of the closet gay character in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. So I avoided it. Then caught on TV and loved it!

EDIT - That is to say that I didn't enjoy Cat on a Hot Tin Roof very much, not that I have a problem with repressed gay people. Or any gay people, for that matter.

The Social Network. I would probably have held off seeing it till it was on TV because I never really rated Fincher too highly (Alien3 was the exception) and I hated Eisenberg, Garfield and Timberlake. But a free copy came my way and I really enjoyed it and thought the performances from the three leads were pretty good,

Anchorman. The ex girlfriend told me to watch it while she was at work one day. Loved it :-)

No Fool. No, no, no. Everything about the film is beautiful - the performances, the cinematography, the narrative. Wash your eyes out with toilet duck.

Oh yeah, you're the Fool who liked The Hole, aren't you. That renders your opinion completely defunct.

The Gospel According To Matthew. I was apprehensive because Salo is an exercise in self-mutilation and made me forever cautious of approaching a Pasolini film, plus I'm not too hot on adaptations of religious texts. Christ (haw) the film is great.

The same goes for Tarkovsky's Mirror. A really difficult sell, I felt like a right tit after putting it off for close to two years. Silly bugger.

'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind', put it off and put it off, now every time I watch it I love it a little more and it's one of my favourite films of all time.
