Shame about the overly sentimental ending though.

The Towering Inferno. Cheesy and dated, but great fun. My favourite disaster movie. Steve McQueen and Paul Newman trying their hardest to out-cool each other. Brilliant film.

I saw this when it released at the cinema and loved it so much I saw it 3 times within a couple of weeks. I was 9 years old and totally in awe of Steve McQueen & Paul Newman. I had a school boy crush on Faye Dunaway and got choked up when Fred Astaire was looking for his woman at the end. To me this will always be the best disaster movie ever. I own it on Blu ray now and still watch it from time to time.
