Default TF online competitions - problems and questions

Hi

I am logged-in on the site, and I'm logged-in on the forum, but I CANNOT enter the competitions - all I get is the message - "You need to login to enter this competition"

I've waited for 10 minutes, and I've continually refreshed, and I've deleted cookies - still no change.

I've tried Firefox and IE - still the same.

What gives??

Hi Seligkram,

Thanks for letting us know about your problem – I’d suggest logging out of the forum and the site, using the sign out box at the top right. You may find you need to sign out twice, go to the forums again to check and see if you are correctly signed out. If you then sign into the site it should work for you, but we are aware of the issue with sign in/sign out – it’s in part due to the way that we’ve integrated the forum and the site, and it needs some work that is scheduled to happen in the near future.

In the mean time, I’m afraid you’ll have to bear with us, but we are working to get it sorted out for you!

Thanks,

James

Thumbs up

Hi James

Thanks for reply; I confirm that completely logging out, and doing a fresh log-in, has solved it, and I can enter compos.

Mark

Hi Deesitt,

Apologies for the problems that you are obviously having with the competition entries. Our developers are aware of it, and are working on solving the problem, however they have a very cool new trailers pages that is being worked on first. The issue with competitions is, I believe, next on the list.

You could try deleting your cookies and seeing if that makes a difference - it might work for you - and can be found under the tools>options menu of your browser.

Again apologies for the problems that you are experiencing, and I hope that you are able to enter the competition you are interested in.

Best regards,

James

Question competition successfully entered?

A bit related...whenever I enter a comp I receive an email asking me to click on a link to confirm entry. I click on the link and see a message in my browser but I do not always get a 'You have successfully entered' email. It seems intermittent. How can I be sure that I have successfully entered the comp? Also, if I click on the 'Find Address' button, I get a new window asking me to enter my house number, and then click on a one-line address, and then the new window just closes...nothing new appears on the comp entry form. What's that all about? Can't TotalFilm just get my address from my profile since I'm logged in anyway? Sorry for the rant.

Default postcode address finder doesn't work on Apple computers

When I use the postcode address finder a popup window displays the correct address but on entering house number and clicking the address the details are not transferred to the competition entry form. This happens with Safari, Firefox and Opera browsers on my iMac running OS X. Probably a problem with Java - can your webbies make sure it works for the Apple comnity.

Thanks

Doesn't work on windows either (using Firefox 3.5) I click on the adress link and it just sits there. Still lets me enter the comp though.

<rant>
But I don't understand why I have to log in and enter the same details every time I enter a competition. I've logged in. Remember me for christsakes. And why do I have to verify my email adress after entering a competition? I've logged in - you know my email address already. At least let me view the comp details without me having to log in. At the mo' I click a link in the email and just get a blank page with the message "you must be logged in". Just show me the comp and let me decide if I want to log in.
</rant>

Right, got that off my chest - like the rest of the site though
