Franco was stoned by the end of it, no question. He couldn't even remember which film had won Best Pic and had to be prompted by Anne. Fail.
Liz was right that the introductory montage was the best bit of the beginning. Having their mothers stand up and that, pfff. Natalie was gorgeous but didn't need to thank her parents for giving her life, I don't reckon. Poor Kirk Douglas...made me squirm. I thought he was going to fall over. And he wouldn't leave! So then the woman in the crunchy dress flirted with him. *triple Squirm!*The best bit was seeing Colin Firth win. He's a class act. |

Yes there were a few too many cringeworthy moments for my liking. The line between the serious awards and the facetious ones is beginning to blur. Next year they need to make a choice which is less hip and cute and go for two who can think on their feet and be professional with it. Some people have been saying Sandra Bullock and Robert Downey would do well and I think they probably would.

Celine Dion singing whilst all the pictures of the dead come onto the screen...
If I was one of the dead, I'd come back and haunt the organisers.

Dreadful wasn't it. I hit the mute button as soon as I saw her horse face.

We needed a mute picture button. Christ that woman is ghastly.

Very, very disappointing all round, I'd say. Apart from Bale's Beard! That was spectacular. That and the fact he nearly forgot his wife's name and then pretended to get emotional to cover it up...

and to think I took a days holiday to watch it!!! Anne Hathaway wasn't as bad as Franco and I agree with Morris, I thought he was stoned.
I'd much rather see someone like Billy Crystal host it or Alec Baldwin and as Kiba said maybe Sandra Bullock. Oh well, at least watching Colin Firth pick up his Oscar was worth wasting a days holiday. |
