I detest shaky cam movies. They're a blight on film making.

Default my wife is a gangster

terrific blend of comedy, melodrama, action, and violence.
Sometimes you get more than one of these in the same sequence.
Hollywood is supposed to be remaking this. If It does, I can't see them doing anything but a watered down version. Because although the movie is described as a comedy, the violence is pretty violent. it's not that hollywood can't do violence. But what I don't believe they can do is mixup violence with comedy, the way does movie does. This movie reminds me of The Host, which was another movie which effectivly mixed comedy and other elements. You can imagine Hollywood executives saying "hey, it's a comedy, let's tone down the violence"
I'm not one for automatically putting down remakes. But in the case of this movie, I really hope Hollywood leaves it alone, because as far I'm concerned, they don't have the imagination to do it justice.

Okay, this is not a movie for the cynical. It's predictable as hell. But for this easily manipulated middle aged person, it was very well made. What makes a movie like this worth watching is whether or not you care about the characters. I did, but not only about the main characters, but the supporting ones.
The performances all round are terrific.

This is the best of the series I've seen so far.
Excellent performances from Derek Tsang and Wu Li as two losers, and on whom the film mainly focuses.
Be warned you might need some tissues for this one.

"“Carlos” exists in three formats. The theatrical version runs 165 minutes; there's a road-show version in two parts totaling 332 minutes. The full three-part miniseries, totaling 5:35"
i saw the 165 min version.

it's probably saying something profound, but to me, it's just entertaining nonsense.

rousing action movie. Although there are too many flying stunts. The biggest plus is that it has the incredible wei/vicky Zhao, who may just be my favourite actress, asian or otherwise.

kurasawa movie
high suspense is the order of the in this classy adaption of an ed mcbain 87th precint novel.
Mifune is in excellent form, and dominates the first half of the movie.
I preferred the secnd half though, as we see the detectives search for the kidnapper of a child. This is not about a lone maverick, but shows a detective force working tgether. My favourite scene was where we see various detectives giving reports on their particular assignments.

The movie is relentless in it's depiction of war as hell. Saving private ryan raised the bar for realism in war movies, this if it didn't vault over it, took a good running jump at it.

I've watched a few Korean serial killer movies, and this was the first one that i wasn't that impressed by. In actual fact, the best bits were those between the main character and his daughter. That was very well done. But the main plot involving the serial killer didn't work for me. Yes it had some good moments, but the dialogue was pretty weak, it was too predictable. I think it's the weakest Korean movie I've seen. it's defefinetly not in the same league as The Chaser or Memories of Murder. Although I should probably remark on the fact that the good looking guy was the killer. so perhaps, that might be outside the norm. Yes, the lead actor wasn't your conventional handsome leading. Personally, that's one of the things i liked about the movie.
