Default Martial Arts Films

Just watched 'Legend of the fist - The Return of Chen Zhen' starring one of my favorite martial arts action stars Donnie Yen and thought that I would start a thread on here to see if anyone else likes Martial arts films. Who are you favorite actors and what are your fave films?

Good one Jay.
Recently Ive been impressed by Blood and Bone starring Jai Michael White. Very convincing Martial Arts and an ok movie.
Past favourites are
Enter The Dragon. ( obviously)
Dragon ( the Bruce Lee story)
Ong Bak ( only the first one though)
House Of the Flying Daggers

and the cheesey/guilty pleasure that is...
Mortal Kombat.

Enter the Dragon is a classic and it was responsible for bringing martial arts to the masses. It was one of the first blu-ray discs I bought and they have done quite a good job on the picture quality.

I love the old Jackie Chan movies especially Police Story, Miracles and Project A. The films he did with Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao such as Dragon’s Forever and the Lucky Stars films are also great fun.

Jet Li is another fav of mine. Some of my faves from him are: Once Upon a Time in China, Fearless and Twin Warriors.

More recently there’s Donnie Yen who seems to be the only martial artist from Hong Kong that’s releasing consistently good movies at the moment. My faves: Ip Man, 14 Blades, Seven Swords.

Jacky Wu has also impressed me recently especially in Fatal Contact.

I'm a Jet Li fan too.

I like none hollywood older Jackie Chan movies, and agree Donnie Yen is consistent atm. Love me some Stephen Chow, Andy Lau, Tony Leung, or Zhao Wei.

I generally like Eastern movies, whether they're martial arts or a comedy tbh. I really enjoy the humor.

My martial arts movie knowledge is minimal. Other than Enter the Dragon and The Big Boss I've not seen any Bruce Lee. I get a weird enjoyment out of the Babycart series though. And The Story of Ricky (though the term martial arts is used loosely for this) is a guilty pleasure.

If you like the babycart series, then you should watch Jet Li's Legend of the Red Dragon, funny flick.

I liked Jackie Chans early stuff like Snake in the eagle shadow but the later stuff is just too tongue in cheek.

He was good in Forbidden Kingdom and the new Karate Kid films though. Watching him fight against Jet Li in Forbidden Kingdom was the highlight of the film.

Jet Li has made some good films but also some real rubbish like Romeo must die.
