I can see Russell Brand as the Riddler more than Simon Pegg. I see him in a dark green goth type outfit.

Reboot it back to the sixties! Paul Giamatti as The Penguin versus, erm, Vin Diesel as Batman.
Set it in Vietnam as well, just for shits and giggles.

I can just about see Brand as The Joker, but Pegg as The Riddler? Really? Really??

Hi,
I was just commenting on a subject and got talking about Batman strangely enough! now I know we all hate reboots most of the time, as most are done poorly and a number of people hate the idea of Spiderman being rebooted so quickly! (I'm not one of those) But eventually Batman will be rebooted, I am a huge fan of Nolans Batman films and can see this being VERY hard for anyone to do. Any ideas what could make a new Batman series a success? |

Aren't Nolan's Batman flicks already a reboot?
In theory it's a very easy concept. Nolan's films are decidedly more realistic than most superhero films, and this is what set them apart from Burton's Gothic style and Schumacher's day-glo camp. If a reboot is to happen there must be a solid artistic direction that will set it apart from other filmed versions of Batman, then on top of that the narrative, action, characters and everything can be eased in. However, given how unbelievably well-regarded Nolan's films are, anything following it will be seen as either a poor imitation or too much of a deviation. I personally would lik to see another interpretation; while I admire Nolan's technical abilities and the undeniable fact that he's brought good action to Batman on film, it's not a style I'm a fan of. Realism and Batman, two things that don't work together for me. |

What they need to do and im hoping they may have, is to do the Knightfall story. Then They can reboot it with a sort of second origin story beginning the new franchise with robin as batman and then re-introducing wayne.
It would be a reboot, an origins story and also adhere to the canon of batman. |

Personally think that Mr Nolan should be locked in a cupboard until he agrees to make more Batmans!
I dont mind rebooting as a whole -the new spiderman looks a lot more gritty than the first one Toby Maguire. |

For me the ideal Riddler would be someone like Stephen Fry though a bit less cuddlier. Joker is a hard one, Nicholsons and Ledgers versions were top line and have left very BIG shoes to fill should the joker be used again - personally speaking Mark Hamils voice in the batman games is perfect - just would need to find the body to match it. |

I think it's ok to keep rebooting, think about it, there is a million and one bits of source material out there, just ripe for the plucking plus it's always interesting to see another directors take on it and it gives us, the viewers, more choice!
Some will be bad, some will be good but just imagine how boring it would be if there was only one version of batman! But... This I'd like to see.... Tarantino/Rodriguez to direct, produce and write, either together or separately. Batman maybe played by Ray Stevenson, he's big, gruff, strong and he's not too bad at the whole acting thing but I'm open to suggestions! Brad Pitt as the Riddler, I'm just thinking of his performance in 12 monkeys! And how about william fichtner as the joker, smart, calm and methodical but evil as you like! different direction but it could work! |
