Default Why I handed in my Unlimited card

Hello, campers.

I'm not sure if anyone cares to read the machinations of my brain-pipes, but I just cancelled my Unlimited card - because of talkers.

There's already been an on/off debate about talkers in the 'Bad Movie Experiences' thread, but one thing's for certain - nobody likes them

Anyway, here's why I did it, and a little context:

I very rarely read blogs, but that was brilliantly written.

Brilliant and sums up my thoughts and experiences with my local cinema's. I use the plural as I have had to tell the pond life to STFU at both of my local cinema's on numerous occasions over the years.

These morons have governed my cinema going experience as I now only go to the early morning showings of a weekend, when the scrotes are still in their pits sleeping off the previous nights alco-pop binge, although on the very rare occasion I will venture out to the cinema of an evening, but this is mainly with a few of the lads from my karate club, unfortunately on these rare occasions when I have been with my fellow students of the martial arts we have not encountered the aforementioned scrotes, which I have found rather disappointing as I have quite a few years of boiling blood from ruined films to get out of my system and there is no better way to get this out of my system than stamping on a hooded topped wearing scrotum.

I read your piece too. I wonder, did you send a strongly worded letter to Cineworld management telling them what you were doing and why? Otherwise no one will register what you did and, more importantly, why you did it.

Or perhaps they're keeping quiet when they see you lot?

Thanks for reading it, all.

I'm pleased to know I'm not alone, to be honest. I was beginning to worry that my own curmudgeonly and old-fashioned perspective on manners was beginning to colour my sensibilities. That it was *me* being unreasonable in expecting people to STFU.

Perhaps I should write to Cineworld after all. It's probably good to tell them why, but other than policing the aisles of the theatre for the duration of the picture (which they won't do), I can't see what they can do about a decline in manners.

You should, even if it's just an email. Jonesy (one of the forum mods) once wrote to Vue complaining about the lack of choice in his local cinema and they wrote back. Couldn't do anything but at least he got a reply.

In Oz, during the screening they send a stern-looking middle aged woman stomping down the aisle with a torch to check everyone is behaving themselves. It seemed to do the job. They only come in once during the movie...but you don't know when they're coming.

Before I was an Unlimited card user, we used to frequent our local Apollo quiet a bit. It was new, then, and it was just before the inevitable rodent infestation and, sure enough, as we predicted, it's became a local yoof hangout.

The duty manager in there was an assertive chap, and I recall two gobshites clamming up when he came in to tell them to shut it, or be thrown out. The silence was only fleeting of course, which prompted a 'philosophical' debate on whether or not the manager had the power to challenge their 'human rights'.

Yes, that's it. Your human rights have been affronted, because you've been told to be quiet in cinema.

Try living in a few other not-so-fortunate countries, then you'll know about human rights violations.

Thick, disgusting, self-oriented specimens.
