I'd have to say Star Wars a new hope, so many scenes in that film that just blow you away.
The Pod race and lightsaber threesome which were also the best part of The Phantom Menace. X2 has so many too but the stand out scenes have to be the White House which is just pure awesomness and when we finally see Wolverine unleashed when Striker and his troops invade the mansion. Sticking on the superhero subject the train fight scene in spiderman 2 was an instant classic. The last scene in Saw was just priceless. That is all for now. I'll be back ![]() |

The opening scene from A New Hope with the large Tantive IV being dwarfed by the immense Star Destroyer, passing overhead and the rumble of the surround sound is one of the best openings to a film for me.
Se7en - Purely for the audience's collective reaction to seeing that the 'Sloth guy' isn't actually dead. The first shot of the AT-AT's foot followed by the pull back in ESB. The Stay Puft sequence of Ghostbusters. The fight scene in Army of Darkness. |

The geography and wildlife of Pandora in Avatar blew me away. The scale and detail made for an unforgettable cinema experience that can't be replicated on a television. It remains the only time I've been truly impressed by 3D.

So many to choose from.....
Darth Maul's double lightsaber in Phantom Menace. Yes the film is average, but that moment made me grin from ear to ear. Jim Carrey in the Truman Show '...and if I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night' before taking a bow and walking off the set. The transformation in An American Werewolf In London. Proof that CGI werewolves DO NOT WORK!!!!! The Usual Suspects...THAT twist! Folding the city in Inception, And I have to agree The pencil trick in The Dark Knight. The opening scene in Scanners....how to get the audiences attention.

I have to agree with Dude about Jurassic Park. A film that was clearly made for a cinema audience. Seeing a whole room of people lose their popcorn and drinks simply because a velociraptor breathed loudly on a window is one of my defining memories of big screen movies. It's a shame that most of what makes this a great cinema experience is lost on a small screen at home.

I agree with Jurassic Park, I went to see it twice and the second time I watched the audiance for the whole of the T Rex scene, its a brilliant piece of suspence right from the ripples in the cup of water to the whole car in the tree scene. Worth the price of admission alone.

The interrogation room scene between Batman and the Joker in Dark Knight was worth the admission price alone. Comic book perfection in visual form.

When Bruce Willis finds out that he is in fact a dead person in the sixth sense and also the bit where the boy tells his mum what her mum has told him, brilliant bit of acting from Toni Collette.

The nightclub scene in Blade and the fight had the audience on their feet cheering in the screening I saw especially when he got his shades back everyone went nuts.
How could we forget The Italian Job (original) those mini's racing through Italy and the ending is one of the greatests ever if not the greatest ever. Just seeing Blackout transform with the original sound from the cartoon did it for me, really took me back to my Saturday mornings as kid. |
